Winter Silence

"I prefer winter and fall, when you feel the
bone structure in the landscape - the loneliness of it - the dead feeling of winter.
Something waits beneath it - the whole story doesn't show."

~ Andrew Wyeth

This is so true! I was just thinking that while everything looks so dead right now, there really is life, especially in the country!

Your two sections of white fence are so good looking. They await your flowers and the green grass.

I prefer late winter - with all the promise of spring just on the horizon.......

The painter Wyeth was so right about the silence. Right now, I am suffering from a lack of peace and quiet -- our neighborhood is like a war zone of consttruction -- no less than four projects going on simultaneously -- and now the city in its infinite wisdom has decided to dig up the road in front of our house to put in new water pipes. It will be lovely when it's finished, I'm sure. The only question is, WHEN?
Well they say you can't make an omelet without breaking few eggs....I just never thought I'd end up being Humpety Dumptey!
Thanks for a great post, with its lovely photos and music. Have a great day and keep up the good work! Cheers! Canadian Chickadee

So true, everything is asleep, resting up. I like seeing the bones or framework that life will grow on.

I see the green grass struggling to break through from the silence. and when it does, spring will break and the birds will sing and the silence will be overcome with song

Hi Jo, I'm trying to catch up on some blogs... It's hard when we are on vacation.

I love this description of winter... I have always enjoyed winter--and like to hike during winter more than any other season. BUT---that being said, I'm ready to see some spring colors and green grass!!! ha

Hugs,
Betsy

Ah...beautiful! But you need a couple feet of snow on that ground just to brighten things up like us up here in Ohio! ha.

Your blog header is beautiful and I love the Wyeth quote...he's one of my favorite painters. Your blog is so calming and peaceful; a much needed respite in my life at this moment.

Kind of like a pond, you only see the surface, while there is so much more of it you don't see.
