A Gentle Giant.

"The tree which moves some to tears of joy,
Is in the eyes of others only a green thing that stands in the way.
Some see Nature all ridicule and deformity, and some scarce see Nature at all.
But to the eyes of the man of imagination, Nature is Imagination itself. "

~ William Blake, 1799, The Letters

I love old trees like that...a lot of people really don't look..there is so much to see out there, and in our whole life we would only scratch the surface of it all..have a good one Jo..

I agree, I love big old trees too. I see a lot of oaks like this on my hikes.

What a glorious tree! And that pheasant is incredible.

And it's always lovely to read a bit of Blake!

Thank you!

I love old trees with all their gnarls and burls....I look for them in the woods when I am doing photography...and then there are all those wonderful tree mushrooms that grow on them too!

That is an old tree. It has seen a lot of history that we have only read about in books. It almost looks like a creature. My oldest son and his wife visited there this summer.

Beautiful tree, Jo... I enjoy seeing trees that are just a little different. Makes me realize that we all don't have to be 'perfect' to be beautiful.

Hugs,
Betsy

What a magnificent old tree. It is perfect in its imperfection.
