The First Sergeant owns more pairs of boots than he will outwear in his lifetime.
He shares a bond with this particular pair, they have carried him over scorching hot sand, riddled with scorpions, and back home to the lush green grass of Tennessee.
I dare say he'll be wearing them, until they fall off his feet.
In answer to fellow bloggers who have asked what our retirement plans are, well we are both still "working" folks.
The First Sergeant is a Tool and Die maker by trade, the only part that is retired, is his military career with the Tennessee National Guard.
We still have several more years, before we can turn off the old alarm clock.

We both tried retirement (?) ... it isn't what its cracked up to be, LMTY.
Love the boots!
Have a wonderful, warm week. TTFN ~ Marydon
Im in awe of his 38 years of military service. That demands serious respect. after all that, his boots shouldbe filled with beer, not flowers!
I love your planter idea, I've seen it done with shoes but not boots.
I respect and admire your husband's dedication to service. Please thank him for me.
Sunny :)
I hope it won't be too long before you can shut off that alarm..because we LOVE, LOVE being retired. He has put many years into that career, so I hope you guys can reconsider and enjoy the life you both deserve soon.
We can't wait to get up every morning and decide what we want to do and where we want to go...sometimes it isn't far, maybe to a nearby nature park with a picnic, but it is like being newly married again, only with less stress!
My two sons have many pairs of the military boots to,but they won't part with them just yet...
we are proud of our guys...aren't we Jo???
A good recycle. The flowers look good in the boots. Those guys could tell lots of stories.
Perfect place for those boots, Jo... Something else will grow and flourish inside those boots now. Neat huh?????
Hugs,
Betsy
We are both retired but work harder now than ever! We do enjoy the retired life though! :)
Never thought I would say (or think) this, but work is good for one's soul:) Work gives us a sense of purpose, pride, and something to do. I'm semi-retired and enjoy that I can make my own schedule.
I have a soft spot for people working for the armed forces - you can be proud of your hubby!
Thats a fantastic idea. I've never seen boots as a planter before. However I've had a lot of people threaten me, to plant their boots where the sun don't shine. he he he he he.
