Season's Changing...

Ode to Autumn

Season of mists and mellow fruitfulness,
Close bosom-friend of the maturing sun;
Conspiring with him how to load and bless
With fruit the vines that round the thatch-eaves run;
To bend with apples the mossed cottage-trees,
And fill all fruit with ripeness to the core;
To swell the gourd, and plump the hazel shells
With a sweet kernel; to set budding more,
And still more, later flowers for the bees,
Until they think warm days will never cease
For Summer has o'er-brimmed their clammy cell.
~ John Keats

I am afriad that this ode needs rewriting to reflect the awful weather that we have been having in the UK. A grey wet summer is now morphing into a grey wet autumn.

We had a wonderful, if a bit dry for these parts, summer here in the Pacific Northwest. But these weekend we are having rain showers, blustery winds, and dark clouds racing across the sky. You can feel the change coming. Great Keats poem, too... sums it up well.

The poem is perfect for us here in TN this early Fall.... I remember years when it took Autumn a LONG time to get here--and when Summer stayed around too log!!!!! But--this year, it's WONDERFUL...

Both your photo and poem celebrate autumn so well...

I for one am so happy that Fall is coming. It means cooler weather and I'll be able to start hiking again.

I wish I could see the changing of the leaves in New England or somewhere like that as they don't change drastically here in SoCal.

Yes, our sun is farther south now and the light in the morning is a fall look. I didn't get all my work done for the summer so I am bemoaning that the earth isn't waiting for me to get my work done. Great words your write, great pictures your post.
