Going Boating ?

He just bought a new boat and decided to take her for the maiden voyage.
This was his first boat and he wasn't quite sure of the exact
Standard Operating Procedures for launching it off a ramp,
but figured it couldn't be too hard.

He consulted his local boat dealer for advice, but they just said
"don't let the trailer get too deep when you are trying to launch the boat".
Well, he didn't know what they meant by that as he could barely get
the trailer in the water at all! Anyhow, here's a picture below.

Love it!
My husband had a small motor boat a long time ago and it was always a pain to get it launched. I was no help at all. Took me all my time to keep two children out of the way. Luckily he didn't do this!

Looks like something I would do, unfortunately.

I was the one who always launched an very old family boat. I never got use to backing it into the water as I could always imagine backing the car in with the trailer. That picture is almost spooky to see as I remember too many times of backing in and hoping I break fast enough. On really windy days and the water is lapping up and putting water into the boat, you get insecure also. I hope your husband enjoys the boat. They are a lot of fun. The hardest thing to remember is the boat has no break, you can't stop it. You have to coast or idle in and then sometimes throw it in reverse to keep it from hitting a dock. More than you maybe wanted to know. Enjoy the water.

I love it! I remember the trials and tribulations of launching our boats when we lived in Michigan. Never had this problem I'm pleased to say. Thanks for the giggle.

I remember trying to back the boat into the ramp. After several tries, I saw a man who had just parked his trailer. He was a complete stranger and I talked him into backing the trailer down because the rest of the group was already at the end of the dock, and one was in the boat. It was totally embarrassing. I remember saying, "next time, I'll drive in straight forward. . . just like this picture!"

That's pitiful. Poor guy. Probably had his kid at the wheel while he directed the whole episode.
