Of Friendships and Fish & Chips......

I was digging through some photographs yesterday, and came across this picture.

It was sent to me several years ago, from my childhood best friend Caroline, (on the right), taken standing in front of her parents Fish and Chip shop in my hometown.
I think we were about nine years old, and inseparable.

At some point the photograph had been torn, and Caroline had taped it back together, which accounts for the distortion in her little face.
I think someone may have told me NOT to smile :)

Her younger brother (David), shown in the middle of the photograph was a "live wire", always teasing us girls.
Sadly, he has passed away, from complications with his diabetes.
He was much too young to have left this earth.......

We made some wonderful memories in the age of innocence.....

So adorable!

Whenever I see a photo of myself as a child, I want to tell her things about the future.

Your music is fantastic. I am subbing for an English teacher and they are listening to your music while they write about Sir Lancelot.

Jill: Your right..sometimes brings tears ;(
The W.P. : Aaaw shucks Carol :)embarrased:
Gaston: Yes, good memories and gone forever.
Patsy: Thank you.
The R.O: That's how I think too ! If only we could tell ourselves, what life is to hold.
L.D: oooh I hope you get lots of good essays turned in :) I'm surprised the young 'uns would listen to it ;)
Dave: Yes, you're correct, I was beginning to smile....
However, I had my front teeth removed as an infant, and so I was always embarrased to smile, when I was younger.
Betsy: Caroline lives in my hometown in England still. We lost touch for decades, but write to each other, once in awhile, and keep up.

It's good to remember your friends from time to time. I have a friend called Sue. We have been friends since we were five years old so we share so many memories together.

Star; yes, I agree, especially our school friends, who we all plodded through our early, philosophical years together.

George: Glad you have enjoyed :)

Janother pea in a pod moment. I knocked my two front teeth out when I was a toddler and didn't smile much when I was growing up either. When we went to London, I couldn't find any fish and chips. I wish I could have eaten them at your friends.

Donna: Do you think we maybe twins, seperated at birth ...lol
I was always self-conscious about smiling, until I had front teeth..
One of these days, I'll post a picture of me snaggle-tooth;)

I could have sworn I already responded to this post. I hate getting old, repeating myself and missing out. But right now, I am listening with my Boze headphones to your playlist, and I've got tears just pouring out, thinking about years gone by, friends gone, loved ones pulled away. Do you know where Caroline is now?

DJan: I'm glad your enjoying the playlist, I have instructions on the sidebar, if you wish to silent it though.
My dear friend Caroline still lives in my hometown, has gone through trials and tribulations, and has emerged on the other side...
I hear from several of my old school mates, we are talking about a reunion, next time I go to England....

"Fish and chips shop." Sounds so exotic.

A Brit in Tennessee said...

Lol...Snowbrush : Nothing exotic about an English fish and chip shop, just "good french fries" and big marrowfat peas, unless you can count the curry sauce you can have poured over'em ...hmmm

That's a great photo. Oh you've got my mouth watering for fish and big chunky chips now with mushy peas.
