Tennessee and Tornados....

Uprooted tree from tornado. Editor's Choice Dec.2008.

On February 5th 2008 an F-4 tornado barreled it's way through the adjoining counties, and left behind in it's wrath, lost lives, lost homes, lost communities..

Today, we are under that dreaded "Tornado Warning" once again.

Straight-line winds gusting up to 74 miles per hour have toppled trees, power lines, and caused destruction and anxiousness once again.

It's almost De Ja Vue.

Be safe, adhere to the warnings, have an emergency plan in place.

That's quite the tree stump turnover! Hope you are all safe. My former "home" state of Oklahoma was torn up yesterday with 8 killed from tornadoes, as I'm sure you know, so there are some stunning photos out there at the moment showing the strength of twisters. It's remarkable.

The wind is really blowing even up here on the Plateau this afternoon. Stay safe down there in the mid-state!

Are you all okay, Josephine??? The storm is just now getting to us.. We've had very high winds --but the rain is just starting.

Hope you made it through today with no problems.

Hugs,
Betsy

Limey, I watched on the news last night, and watched in horror at the Oklahoma destruction. I suppose the only "real" answer, is get out of the way, because it can hit anywhere, and go all "Willy Nilly "
Jeez....

There's no avoiding those things if they want to hit you. They're unpredictable in many ways. I can't emphasize the importance of having a shelter/safe room. Many of my former colleagues had home damage, but luckily, all are safe.

That some tree stump! It reminds me of the storm that hit southern England in October 1987. We don't hear much about news in the US. Hope you are safe.

I remember that 87 storm. Tree came inches from crushing my brother's bedroom with him asleep in it.

I'm glad to hear you're okay. We had a very severe storm, but no tornado, unlike those poor souls in Lone Grove.

Yeah, I've been in a couple-anxiety provoking- but that was in the 70ties - since you're Brittish, I think you won't mind me saying, it's deja vu (and "everyone" in the US pronounces it..., so when you translate it, it would mean: "already you (plural)", instead of "already seen." :)
"vu" pronounced as in the first syllable of "curious" is how one would pronounce it.
Aaah languages we never stop learning...
